Five bold predictions for Texas A&M football as they vie for SEC control this weekend against LSU
Once again, all eyes are on Texas A&M football this weekend as they prepare to take on the LSU Tigers. After their slog of a loss earlier this year to Notre Dame, the Aggies have not lost another game, mirroring the Tigers who are similarly undefeated after dropping their opener.
Neither team has a loss in SEC play, so whoever wins this weekend will be in the driver's seat of the nation's premier conference. In other words, it's all on the line.
Let's make some predictions about what we might see this weekend.
Weigman notches 3+ TDs
I think we see no. 15 return to form after a bit of a down game last weekend. Even against Missouri, he didn't end up throwing a touchdown, though, since every score came on the ground or via the leg of Randy Bond. But here, I think Weigman and the Aggie pass-catchers take advantage of a porous secondary for LSU.
Taking the over on 1.5 sacks
In case you haven't seen, apparently the LSU offensive line has yet to give up a sack this year. Of course, South Carolina sacked Nussmeier twice, so both of those must have come against backups. In any case, Elko is one of the best at scheming up pressure, so I think we see the Ags register at least two sacks.
Nussmeier throws an INT under pressure
Of course, Nussmeier is great at getting the ball out under pressure—albeit not always accurately. Especially against an environment that will be hell-bent on making their presence felt, I predict we see Nussmeier attempt to get the ball out against pressure and toss one the Aggies' way.
A&M holds LSU under 3.5 YPC
This is really a bold prediction, as the season-low for the Tigers is exactly 3.5 YPC, against Ole Miss. But this is maybe the best rush defense that LSU will have faced. This is a huge key to the game—if the Ags can stymy the Tigers on the ground, they should have the game well in hand.
Moss back over 100 yards in the game
Last week, Moss had several big runs called back due to penalties away from the play. I think we see that remedied this week, and the top back for the Ags has another big day. LSU's defense played well against the run when playing the hobbled Razorbacks last week, but this is a different beast entirely.
