Saturday marks the final walk-in-the-park moment for this Texas A&M football team — hosting a 1-11 FCS program in Samford that has lost all 11 of those games by double digits. This is flat-out one of the worst teams in Division I football, and while that means there shouldn't be an ounce of fear in the hearts of Aggie Nation, it also means there's a chance we get to witness some pretty amazing stuff from this football team. So let's get five bold predictions for what we'll get to witness this weekend.
Marcel Reed doesn't get touched by a Bulldogs defender the entire day
The linchpin of this Aggie football team is nearing the conclusion of an incredible regular season — Marcel Reed is a top-three betting favorite to win the Heisman, and also a top-20 quarterback in passing yards and passing touchdowns. While this game will be one of the final chances he has to jump above the other Heisman contenders and strengthen his case, I'm not too sure that will be allowed to happen.
This team goes as its star quarterback does. If Reed is not able to suit up in conference title weekend and beyond, then this 10-0 start was all for nothing. Because of that, I don't think we'll see too much of Reed in this one. He'll play, he'll throw and he'll compete, but I'd be shocked to see him take off on designed runs or stay in the pocket for some long-developing pass plays. If that's the case, then he should finish with a squeaky clean jersey by the time this thing wraps up.
