Florida adds insult to injury with wild postgame behavior towards Texas A&M

This was neither necessary nor expected out of the visiting Gators.

Texas A&M certainly got humbled pretty soundly by the Florida Gators in last night's game at Reed Arena, but the postgame antics by the Gators overshadowed whatever else happened. UF was able to leverage their massive frontcourt to keep the Aggies from getting to the rim on offense, and on a day where A&M's shooting prowess abandoned them, that was all she wrote.

Immediately following the game, however, there was an altercation that many in the building missed. The Florida players had gathered around the Texas A&M logo at center court, ostensibly intending some kind of disrespect, but it didn't stop there.

According to Luke Evangelist, a Texags reporter in the building, the "wild" behavior actually stemmed from the Florida coaches, not the players. Evangelist references an assistant "charging at Rylan Griffen" and head coach Todd Golden "cursing out Zach Clemence"— for what, it is not exactly clear.

Florida's win over Texas A&M leads to strangely aggressive behavior from Gators

Texags editor Billy Liucci made overtures towards the idea that the Gators coaches had an issue with the Aggies playing frustrated down the stretch— but other than a flagrant call against Rylan Griffen, there really was nothing over the line at all.

Gators may see what Griffen did and call it a cheap shot, but it really was not very bad at all, especially in such a physical game. Flagrant 1 was the right call because Griffen did not really need to do this, but the actual contact was nothing outside of what you'd see in the regular course of a basketball game.

You can see the assistant coach heading after the Aggie players, as well as some colorful language from the rest of the Gators, in the video below— profanity warning is on high, here.

Golden and the Florida coaches apparently stayed hot until after the game, as he turned his passive-aggressiveness up to 11.

The Gators won fair and square, but this was unnecessarily pugilistic by any stretch. The Aggies know they have a while to go before they become true championship contenders, but this was just a puzzling way to end that game.
