It looks like Florida has to deal with more than just DJ Lagway's decision to transfer, as one of his targets has also just made the decision to enter the beloved transfer portal.
Just days after Lagway decided to leave, that opened a window for 6-foot-8 monster tight end Hayden Hansen to leave and find a new home. With Boerkircher playing in his last few games as a senior, the time will come to find a new face at tight end. Hansen's size seems perfect for run blocking.
Hansen would be filling some big shoes, as Boerkircher will cap off his senior season at the 2026 Panini Senior Bowl. This looks like a match made in heaven already, and it's easy to see why.
Hansen's size alone is enough to develop him more with Texas A&M
I shouldn't be talking like he's already here, but this seriously would be a perfect fit. Mike Elko has been trying his best to utilize his tight ends more in the receiving game, but so far, they have been better in blocking.
That's not to say that Marcel Reed won't be throwing him the ball. Hansen already has the size and strength to win one-on-one battles. Not to mention, he just finished his most active season yet, going for 30 catches, 254 yards and two touchdowns in 2025. Hansen also made 33 consecutive starts for the Gators, meaning he can stay on the field consistently.
Theo Melin Ohrstrom looked like he was going to be more involved in the receiving end, but that didn't happen, and Boerkircher ended up stealing more of the thunder, especially after catching the game-winning touchdown against Notre Dame.
In proximity, the fit makes sense too. Hansen is originally from Weatherford, Texas, just 35 minutes west of Fort Worth.
This looks like something Elko has to look into. The man is a giant, and he can become a diverse tight end under the right system. Everything about Hansen screams Aggieland.
