Texas A&M football DL Shemar Turner pulls out of senior bowl after injury-related gut punch
Texas A&M football fans came into this year pretty high on the potential of the defensive line. In fact, it was thought that the Aggie DL would be by far the strength of the team, just as it has been for several years now.
In the first part of the season, it looked like it indeed would be. Despite some troublesome spots here and there, the defensive line shined in several games, particularly against Missouri and LSU.
However, down the stretch, the run defense and pass rush looked far worse than it did early on in the year. Though A&M's reputation was still that of a team with some big time stars on the line, their production wasn't matching it.
So with three starters headed to the NFL, each of them is looking to prove their mettle in arenas like the Senior Bowl, the NFL Combine, and pro days. Scourton, Turner, and Stewart each have clear high-level upside, so they'll rely on their good tape and performances at these events in order to get teams believing in them.
However, one of those three just got some pretty bad news on that front. Shemar Turner, a stalwart on the line for the Aggies over the last few years, is having to pull out of participation in the Senior Bowl after some unfortunate injury news.
Texas A&M DL Shemar Turner, a likely Top 50 pick, had to pull out of the Senior Bowl after learning that a stress fracture from camp, that needed a rod inserted into it, never fully healed, sources say.

This is quite the setback for Turner, who stood to gain a lot from a strong Senior Bowl performance. Luckily, it looks like he will be available for the combine and pro day. Here's hoping he heals up quickly and can show out at those two events— he has the potential to be a big time player in the NFL if he can put it all together.
