Texas A&M football has put a lot of luminaries in the league over the past decade, but two names stand above the rest: Mike Evans and Myles Garrett. They never crossed paths at A&M, given that Evans left the year before Garrett arrived, but their careers in the league have both earned them spots as perennial all-pros and some of the most recognized names in the NFL.
Garrett in particular has achieved a transcendent status as one of the league's top 3 talents at a premium position. He, Nick Bosa, and TJ Watt are widely regarded as the best pass-rushers in the NFL (along with Micah Parsons in the first half of any given season).
As such, he is probably the most valuable player on the Cleveland Browns, the team that drafted him with the no. 1 overall pick. He's seen some big years and some lean times in Cleveland, but now with the team returning to a laughingstock status with the Deshaun Watson debacle, it looks like Myles has had enough.

The reigning defensive player of the year in the NFL, Garrett has seen enough in Cleveland. As his statement says, he entered the league to compete for a Super Bowl, and he's been patient enough to ride the ups and downs with the Browns. With their trajectory one of the muddiest in the entire league, Garrett has requested to go somewhere with a brighter and clearer future.
I don't blame Myles for this in the slightest. He's been with this team for quite some time and given them a chance— just when it felt like they were building towards something, too, they imploded. I can understand the frustration for a guy in his prime who wants to compete at the highest level. Hopefully, Garrett lands somewhere where his dream of competing for a Super Bowl is fulfilled.
