Formerly under-the-radar Aggie shines in NBA Summer League (and he badly needs to)

This is something the Indiana Pacers need, and now.

The 2025 NBA Summer League drew some of the largest ticket prices in Summer League history thanks to the Dallas Mavericks and Los Angeles Lakers, which was highlighted by Cooper Flagg and Bronny James. While it was nice to see the debut from Flagg, fans will likely go back to the casual viewing of Summer League.

With that said, former Texas A&M Aggie guard Quenton Jackson is showing out this Summer. Against the Cleveland Cavaliers, he finished with 24 points in a win, and showed off some elite shooting in the game.

With Tyrese Haliburton set to miss the entire season with an Achilles injury he suffered in Game 7 of the NBA Finals, the Pacers are very limited at the guard position. While it looks like Andrew Nembhard, Aaron Nesmith and Bennedict Mathurin are all going to handle the backcourt, there's definitely a spot for Jackson to finally get a chance to show out.

Pacers' guard depth concerns mark golden opportunity for Jackson

Jackson had a great performance by shooting lights out and driving inside without hesitation. He definitely showed what he could if his reps were to increase. Even though he only averaged 5.8 points a game last season, the depth of the Pacers needs to be addressed, and Rick Carlisle will likely dig deep into his roster for a guard.

The depth chart come opening day will likely start with Jackson as the third option at point guard and shooting guard, behind sharpshooter Ben Sheppard and point general T.J. McConnell. As a go-getter for a quick bucket, Carlisle might end up favoring Jackson over Sheppard just because of playing style.

Even though Jackson didn't get much playing time, the Pacers still have an NBA Finals apperance to build off of. The Pacers will be without their top man, but there have been times where the team has actually been better off without Haliburton. Jackson could be one of those guys to step up for the Pacers that truly must figure out their guard depth.
