Texas A&M and LSU are squaring off in prime time on ABC for the third-straight season. The Aggies have come away with victories in each of the last two seasons, winning 38-23 in 2024 at Kyle Field and winning 49-25 in Baton Rouge last season.
Those two games are both on the list of Marcel Reed’s very best games as an Aggie quarterback. He registered a QBR of 99.8 in the 2024 game and a QBR of 93.2 in the 2025 game— in fact, those are two of the three best games in his career by that metric.
QBR, as a method of measuring quarterback performance, tends to highly reward quarterbacks who are productive running the ball, and that’s been Reed’s most dangerous weapon against the Tigers each of the last two years. If the Aggies are able to leverage that against Blake Baker’s defense for the third year in a row, then they will be in a great spot.

There’s maybe not a quarterback in the nation that is more doubted right now than Marcel Reed. His last game against Kentucky was maybe the worst of his career, so he is in need of a huge bounce back against the Tigers— one that Kiffin and company will be vigilant to try to prevent.
Players to watch for Texas A&M: LB Daymion Sanford
Sanford made his first appearance on the defensive side last week against Kentucky after recovering from an injury in the spring game. He’ll be a player that LSU tries to put in conflict quite a bit— he’ll have to be decisive and play very fast in this one.
Players to watch for Texas A&M: WR Mario Craver
Craver was a focal point of the game plan last week for the Aggies, and he’ll need to be that again this week against the Tigers. He’s the most explosive guy on the A&M offense, so he needs to have the ball in his hands regularly this weekend against the Tigers.
Players to watch for LSU: QB Sam Leavitt
After looking like a world-beater in game one against Clemson, there’s been some discontent with Leavitt among the LSU faithful in the last few games. His scrambling ability is something the Aggies will have to account closely for in this game.
Players to watch for LSU: RB Dilin Jones
The Wisconsin transfer has taken the top place in LSU’s stable of backs over guys like Caden Durham and Harlem Berry. The Tigers will look to hammer the A&M defensive front with Jones and company after what Kentucky did last week, so the Aggies have to approach this with a completely new attitude.
Players to watch for LSU: EDGE Princewill Umanmielen
Umanmielen is a high-level pass rusher that followed Kiffin from Ole Miss. The Aggie tackles will have to be ready for their toughest test yet this season— keeping Marcel in a clean pocket is going to be key in this game.
