Former Texas A&M football signee Kendal Daniels enters transfer portal; could Aggies bring rangy safety to College Station?
One of the stranger recruiting moments I've seen in my time following Texas A&M football had to do with safety Kendal Daniels. A native of Oklahoma, Daniels is a DB with a huge frame, standing at 6'4" and possessing plenty of length.
With measurables like that—not to mention speed and physicality to boot—the Aggie faithful were excited to see what Daniels would do in Mike Elko's defense. But then, they hit a hitch in the road.
After signing day, then-defensive assistant Ish Aristide left for a job with the Miami Hurricanes. This was a big deal for Daniels, who then announced that he would be requesting a release from his national letter of intent. He then signed with Oklahoma State, his runner-up, and has been there ever since.
Well, now Daniels is in the portal. And guess who's back on Texas A&M football's staff?
Daniels is exactly the kind of player the Aggies could use. His frame, as I discussed, is a huge plus, and provides a lot of versatility between safety and linebacker.
The preexisting relationships are there without a doubt, and the Ags certainly have a need at safety following a disappointing year by several players that A&M was counting on. Daniels is a physical player and a sure tackler, which the Aggies were missing far too often at the safety spot.
There have been no reports yet about whether Daniels will make a visit to College Station, but I would by no means be shocked to see something like that crop up soon. With all the connections, it would just make too much sense.
