It happened again in college football. Another head coach has been fired on a fall Sunday afternoon, and this time, it's Auburn's Hugh Freeze.
The experiment never really worked for Freeze and Auburn, and Texas A&M fans might say it all started when the Tigers couldn't get anything to work on third down. The Tigers went 0/13 against the A&M defense. The truth is: Freeze never really worked out, and it's time for Texas A&M to capitalize.
Texas A&M had Cam Coleman at one point, but he flipped his commitment to Auburn due to the Jimbo Fisher fallout. Can Mike Elko possibly take advantage of what's been one of Texas A&M's best seasons in a while?
Texas A&M needs to work to get WR Cam Coleman from Auburn
To Texas A&M fans, you can't blame Coleman for flipping to Auburn back in 2023. The coach who recruited Coleman was eventually fired and was paid $77.5 million. It takes a while for a school to come back from something like that.
For Elko, he's only needed two years for Texas A&M to return to relevance. They are one of the last four unbeaten teams in the country, and will look to take new heights in the coming years. Texas A&M is clearly more ready than Auburn to compete in football.
Coleman has 37 catches, 474 yards and three touchdowns on the season. He can also play a unique role for Marcel Reed to play as the jump ball man. Even though KC Concepcion and Mario Craver are one of the best pairs of wideouts in the game, Coleman has the height that Texas A&M can take advantage of.
This could be a clear sign for Texas A&M to jump on Coleman, as he was once an Aggie. The mess of Bobby Petrino and Fisher was probably the final straw from before, but this is a golden opportunity to grab Coleman again.
