Injury report for Texas A&M football ahead of huge road contest against South Carolina Gamecocks
Texas A&M football is headed on the road to take on the South Carolina Gamecocks in a hugely consequential matchup for the Aggies' chances at the SEC championship. According to ESPN, the Ags currently have the second-highest odds in the conference of ending up in Atlanta at the end of the season, but a loss in Columbia would hamper those odds significantly—not to mention leaving a bad taste in Aggie fans' mouths headed into the bye.
You always want to be at full strength for a matchup like this, but that's a rare thing to see when you're this far into the season, especially in the SEC. However, according to the most recent availability report that dropped last night for this game, the Aggies and Gamecocks are both relatively healthy for this game.
As you can see, the Aggies will be without Chase Bisontis for this game. Bisontis went down against Mississippi State and has been out ever since—however, indications have been that he is not out for the season. I'd expect that we see him come back at some point after the bye.
Jahdae Walker is also going to miss the first half of this one after the controversial targeting penalty he was called for last week. It was the correct call by the rulebook, so it's not the referee's fault, but it drew attention to a seldom-seen situation that fans are questioning—targeting on an offensive player for a strong block.
This, of course, is to say nothing of the quarterback situation for the Aggies. A&M last had questions at the signal caller spot when Weigman was injured, but not that both he and Reed are healthy, it'll be interesting to see how things are handled going forward.
