Texas A&M football bit by injury bug yet again, leading to another loss; Can Aggies scrape together enough for massive rivalry game?

Texas A&M football lost a very uncharacteristic game to the Auburn Tigers last night, as the normally moribund Tiger passing attack was able to find relative success against what had been a pretty salty secondary for the Ags.

One thing that observant fans were noticing was the different personnel that were out on the field. After the early piece of the game, A&M's best corner, Will Lee, was nowhere to be found.

There were no remarks made on the broadcast, and young Jayvon Thomas was trying his best, but in a game that came down to a contested catch in the fourth overtime, every little bit mattered on the margins.

Mike Elko remarked after the game that both Lee and nickel corner Jaydon Hill sustained injuries early in the game, and that neither returned.

This continues a frustrating injury stretch for the Aggies, who are razor-thin at so many positions at the moment. They're currently missing their two best offensive players in Le'Veon Moss and Chase Bisontis—though no. 71 gave it a go against the Tigers, he was only able to play very limited snaps.

This is not even to mention guys like Tyreek Chappell and Rueben Owens; Mark Nabou or even Cyrus Allen now. That's five would-be starters, and one guy who would have gotten a 40%+ share of the snaps in Owens.

It's a testament to the Aggies' depth that they've made it this far with these injuries, but when you look at how the Ags seem to have slowed down here at the end of the year, it makes sense with so many big contributors going down.

Hopefully, Lee and Hill will both be available for next week's huge matchup. It's a shame it won't be an Aggie squad at full strength, but the 12th Man will be there behind them no matter what.
