Just a little bit over a year ago, Texas A&M football hired their current head man, Mike Elko, after firing Jimbo Fisher on November 12. Fisher, following a 12-12 record in the previous two years that far underachieved the recruiting results he was bringing in, simply wasn't getting it done, and reports that have come out since that point have verified that the move was the right one.
However, many Aggies still hold no ill will towards Fisher, who by all accounts never gave up on the program. It was his dogged belief in himself and his offensive system that ended up being his downfall at A&M, not apathy or lethargy.
Since his departure from College Station, Fisher has indicated a willingness—even a desire—to return to the coaching ranks one day. And the perfect job may have just come open.
Could West Virginia be targeting former Texas A&M football coach Jimbo Fisher?

So, where will WVU turn? Maybe to a national name, currently out of coaching, who by no means needs a big payday, and has ties to the area.
It would be even better if this big, national name has expressed a possible desire to return to his home state.

The above quote is from before the debacle of the 2022 season really got underway, when Aggie trust in Jimbo was at an all-time high. When A&M was on the heels of bringing in that highly-rated 2022 class, and before the losing began in earnest.
So, could Jimbo be interested in a return to West Virginia? The signs are all there. But I guess we'll just have to wait and see. One thing's for sure: if he does end up in Morgantown, Aggie fans will be watching with great interest.
