Jace LaViolette and Ryan Prager receive high honors ahead of exciting season for Texas A&M baseball

Texas A&M baseball is on the verge of a huge season. With the return of nearly every single key player from last year's College World Series-bound squad, the Aggies are preseason favorites to make a return to college baseball's biggest stage.

This wouldn't have been possible without Michael Earley, the new head coach of Texas A&M baseball, rallying the troops after a tumultuous offseason. No sooner had the Aggies returned from Omaha than their coach departed in the dead of night for their bitter rival, leaving the players even more hurt and confused than they had been previously.

At least one coach on the staff actually cared about his players, however, as Earley came back to lobby for the job. Trev Alberts saw the wisdom in bringing him back in after all of the players vouched for him, and the rest is history.

Now, with so many contributors back in the fold, the Aggies are set for a huge run towards the College World Series once more. Those who follow the sport have a high opinion of this Aggie squad, and two A&M players just picked up another huge preseason honor to drive that point home.

D1Baseball, the national standard in collegiate baseball coverage, has named Jace LaViolette their preseason SEC player of the year, and Ryan Prager their preseason SEC pitcher of the year. LaViolette is set to be a high MLB draft selection, and Prager returned after being a second-round pick in the draft himself.

There's little doubt that these two will be extremely key in whatever the Aggies are able to accomplish in the upcoming season. Here's hoping A&M goes just as far in 2025— and even one game further.
