Following Texas A&M's loss to Texas, it seems that the hated Longhorns actually share something in common with the Aggies, according to ESPN's Joe Lunardi.

At the beginning of the week, Lunardi had the Aggies as an eight seed. Not the ideal number you want, because if you win that, you're going to be playing a one seed in the Round of 32. Since the Texas loss, it appears things have gotten worse for Texas A&M basketball.

Lunardi now has the Aggies and the Horns as the "last four byes." The teams in that category would avoid playing in the First Four. That's not trending in the right direction for the Ags.

It's not the end of the world, but it shows how far down the Aggies have gone since the Florida loss— and they can expect to fall even further after today's loss to Texas.

Lunardi now has the Aggies as the 10 seed, playing against Utah State, maybe not the end of the world for them, since the winner of that would play the winner of Purdue-Wright State. Purdue has been stumped against some of the best teams in the country, like Michigan, Illinois and Iowa State.

Lunardi has Texas as the 10 seed playing Saint Louis. They would have to play a red-hot Florida team if they win that. Of course, the projected teams in place won't last once the brackets are revealed, but this is a good idea as to who both teams could end up facing.

Texas A&M had little to expect starting the season, and if the Aggies had Mackenzie Mgbako, things could be a lot different. But none of that matters now. All that matters is staying in the tourney and not having to worry about playing a First Four game.
