What will Mario Craver's "revenge" game look like?
One of the best portal additions made in college football this offseason was when the Aggies pried top wideout Mario Craver away from Starkville and landed him in a better-looking maroon and white jersey. The Aggies' top wideout has 477 yards and four touchdowns through four games, already 109 yards and one touchdown more than he had in nine games for the Bulldogs last season.
This is going to be a really exciting matchup to watch between Craver and the Aggie receivers against the Bulldogs' defensive backs. Mississippi State is allowing under 200 passing yards per game through its first five games, the 36th-best mark in the country, but that also includes three games against Southern Miss, Alcorn State and Northern Illinois.
A more revealing metric to look at is explosive plays allowed through the air: Mississippi State has given up 15 plays of 20-plus yards through the air, one of the worst numbers in the country. Craver, one of the best big-play receivers in the country, is averaging 20 yards per reception.
We all know the Mississippi State defensive backs are licking their chops, ready to hamper the production from one of their former teammates, but we also know Craver has had this game circled on his calendar since Transferring to Texas A&M — making it one of the biggest stories to watch this weekend.
