Last night, Bucky McMillan and Texas A&M Basketball came out victorious over Ole Miss after a late game comeback that saw them hitting multiple clutch shots and not letting the Rebels score over the final 3:32 of the game. A lot can be taken away from this game, good and bad. Here are some of those takeaways that we can see going forward.
First and foremost, the Aggies have a lot of work still to do. That should've been an easy win last night, but at the very least, they survived. The Aggies still remain 43rd in the NET rankings and the most recent bracket matrix update has the Aggies down on the 10 seed line.
Takeaways from Texas A&M basketball's last-second Ole Miss win
With only 5 games remaining, the Aggies probably need 3 more wins to be comfortably safe in the tournament. 2 more would likely put them on the bubble and that would leave their fate to an NCAA committee that has a history of screwing over Texas A&M.
The most likely wins for the Aggies would be at Oklahoma this Saturday, at home next Saturday against Texas, and at LSU the following Saturday. The good thing for the Aggies is there will not be any potential quad 3 or 4 losses on their regular season resume, which most bubble teams can't say.
The Aggies need to build off this win. They escaped, plain and simple, but they got back in the win column and finally have some momentum again. Ruben Dominguez looked back to his old self. Zach Clemence has really started to come into his own. Marcus Hill has continued his recent success, and Rashaun Agee continues to lead this team. Oklahoma will be a tough task, but win that game and sky is the limit.
Check back tomorrow for our full preview of Saturday's matchup against the Oklahoma Sooners.
