The Lane Kiffin saga went from bad to chaotic for the Ole Miss football program, and the ramifications around college football are only starting to be felt. Now, as the new man of LSU's football program, it's time for Kiffin to arrange his own coaching staff.
Kiffin has announced that he will stick with Blake Baker as his defensive coordinator. Even though LSU jumped rapidly in the defensive rankings during Baker's tenure, that won't help the Tigers get over the hump against the Aggies.
Bad news for the Tigers— the Aggies' ferocious offensive attack has gotten the best of Baker for the past two seasons. This is a great move that Aggies fans should love.
LSU keeping Blake Baker as DC after being torched by Texas A&M for the past two seasons
The Aggies have scored 38 points and 49 points in Baker's two years as DC against LSU, respectively.
The transfer portal makes everything unpredictable, but assuming Marcel Reed returns to Texas A&M, along with most of the offensive weapons, at least this can be one positive thing to look forward to next season.
Texas A&M will have to watch out for someone they had high hopes for in the recruiting world, and that's Lamar Brown. With Kiffin now in the picture, it's unlikely that Brown will be with anyone else besides LSU.
With KC Concepcion, Ar'Maj Reed-Adams and Trey Zuhn projected to get picked in the 2026 NFL Draft, the offense will definitely miss those pieces, but as long as Mike Elko continues to build around Reed, it shouldn't worry fans too much.
LSU football is trying to get back to the top of the mountain. Brian Kelly is the only coach to have not taken the Tigers to a national championship victory in the 21st century. It seems like it might be destined one day for Kiffin to put the Tigers back on top, but they have to get through the SEC gauntlet first.
