Last-second walk-off touchdown is the redemption Texas A&M freshman needed

It's not how you start, it's how you finish.

With Marcel Reed not guaranteed to play a fourth season with Texas A&M, this may be the perfect time for Mike Elko to evaluate others if Reed decides to take the leap of faith to the NFL.

One of the major "others" is freshman quarterback Helaman Casuga. He was the No. 6 prospect in Utah and No. 15 QB nationally. For much of the Maroon and White game, he struggled. But as they say, it's not how you start, it's how you finish.

Freshman QB Helaman Casuga wins the game for Team Maroon off a beautiful pass

Casuga made for a fun ending for the game, after throwing a nice lob over the middle of the field to sophomore tight end Luke Braden in the end zone. The clock ran out, and the players went wild, storming the field after the touchdown.

That's about as much excitement as a crowd will see in a scrimmage, but the way that Casuga helped win the game is the real story here. He had every reason to be mentally cooked, but he stayed in the game and threw a beautiful touchdown pass.

Casuga may be the next man if Reed decides to call it quits on Texas A&M after the season, but of course, we have a whole year to see how that plays out.

His accuracy was on display when he was throwing balls next to Reed in spring practice, and he looked like a developing young kid who can soon hold the keys to the ignition if his name is called.

Great showing for Casuga, and hopefully he can make more plays like that in his A&M career.
