Texas A&M football has done an amazing job locking in some high-level recruits from the class of 2027, getting to the point where it would be a greater surprise if they did not end up with the top class in the cycle than if they did. That’s a huge testament to Texas A&M’s staff and what they’ve been able to accomplish since arriving in College Station, and the Aggies aren’t done yet.

One of their top targets left on the board is five-star receiver Eric McFarland, who has been high on the Aggies for some time. The highly-regarded and explosive pass-catcher, originally from Las Vegas but now attending school at IMG, is coming off of a visit to Texas A&M last weekend that— by all accounts— went very well.

Now, the last announcement that has emerged from McFarland’s camp has Aggie fans feeling even better. Though the electric receiver did make his way to Gainesville this past weekend, things are looking great for the Aggies with a commitment now confirmed to be imminent.

Texas A&M 5-star target Eric McFarland sets decision date with Aggies trending hard

McFarland has announced that he will be committing on June 28, three weeks from today. His final choices are Florida, Georgia, and the Aggies.

So, with McFarland coming off of a visit to Gainesville and the Gators also being present in this top three, why should the Aggies see this as a plus? The answer is actually quite simple.

Up until this point, the biggest competition for McFarland for the Aggies has been not Florida, but the Ohio State Buckeyes. In fact, OSU is still second in the Recruiting Prediction Machine on On3’s profile for McFarland, with the Aggies sitting in the first-place spot.

The other piece of things is that the Gators, despite how well they’ve been recruiting this cycle, are not coming out of that official visit weekend acting like they knocked things out of the park with McFarland. In that vein, Aggie fans would be wise to stick with the reigning momentum— and that is squarely with the Maroon and White.

That is backed up by the fact that the Aggies are far and away the favorite in the aforementioned Recruiting Prediction Machine, with A&M holding an 89% likelihood according to the most recent update. That’s only as reliable as a prediction algorithm can be in such a human-centric process like recruiting, but it’s certainly encouraging.

Most insiders have continued to have their predictions on the Aggies here as well, showing just how strongly Texas A&M has been trending. If McFarland were to commit, he would join Jaden Upshaw as the second receiver within the top 50 players overall in the country that are also Aggie commitments.

Hopefully, this momentum can continue and the Aggies can get things over the finish line here. Things have been trending positively for Texas A&M in this recruitment for quite some time, and it seems like they are on the cusp of finally getting one of their top targets in the boat.
