Auburn may be without key cornerback Jay Crawford for their game in College Station this weekend, according to a report from Pete Nakos of On3.

Crawford also missed the game against Oklahoma last week for the Tigers, one where the margin was quite a bit thinner over the course of the game than many had anticipated. His presence in that contest could have shaped their fortunes much differently, especially considering that the final score only saw OU win by 7.

Even so, the Tigers played some pretty good coverage over the course of the day against the Sooners, not allowing a lot of daylight for the OU receivers. That said, though, they will be facing an entirely different challenge this weekend when they line up across from KC Concepcion, Mario Craver, Terry Bussey, and Ashton Bethel-Roman.

Auburn injury news means Texas A&M could have huge day via the pass

Many Auburn fans, coming into this game, are still underestimating the Aggies' passing prowess. The Ags are among the most explosive passing teams in the entire nation thanks in large part to Craver and Concepcion's ability to get open at any point on the field.

Combine that with some clever schemes by Collin Klein, and the Aggies have a high level of potential when it comes to throwing the ball. After two weeks off, Reed should be ready to rock and roll and will no doubt take advantage of any backups on the field, just like we saw a couple of weeks ago against Notre Dame when Christian Gray had to leave the game briefly.

If Crawford is really unable to go, it could mean a lot of opportunity for the Aggies. The Tigers struggled defending the slot against Oklahoma, so Craver could really make a lot of noise in this one, as well as Terry Bussey. Concepcion is a slot type of player in many ways, but he mainly plays out wide for the Aggies.

One thing is for sure: even if the Auburn fans are underestimating the Aggies, the coaching staff had better not be. The Tigers are in for a rough day if they load up against the run and dare Marcel to pass the ball in this game.
