Texas A&M fans have long been cheering on Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Mike Evans, ever since he was a first-round selection off of one of the most prolific Aggie offenses ever to grace the field. Until this previous season, marred with an injury, Evans had put up at least 1,000 receiving yards every single year, breaking an NFL record in the process.
He's reaching the latter stage of his career, without a doubt, but he's got a lot to show for it— including a championship won with Tom Brady. Though he's been a Tampa Bay lifer, with free agency upcoming, he could explore a move— one that may reshape the NFL in certain capacities.
The Buccaneers front office is well aware of Evans' intention to hear out some other teams, and they've even endorsed the prospect. They definitely want to have him back, but they aren't standing in the way of him talking with other squads.
Former Texas A&M receiver Mike Evans could be looking for a change in free agency
This could be massive, especially for a lot of Aggie fans. There are already many among the Dallas Cowboys and Houston Texans faithful that are clamoring for their front offices to make a run at the legendary Texas A&M wide receiver.
He's not the machine that he once was, but he is still a top-shelf target in this league who can get open downfield and make contested catches. Either franchise would be lucky to have him, but they'd have to convince him to move away from Tampa Bay first.
He could also elect to make a move to a perennial Super Bowl contender, such as the Chiefs, Bills, or Lions. He'd be a top target at any of those locations as well, and could be the x-factor that moves one of those three over the top when all is said and done.
There are lots of exciting possibilities for Evans in the immediate future, and Aggie fans will no doubt follow this one closely to see where he ends up.
