Latest recruiting loss for Texas A&M actually could signal much bigger win coming

This seems like bad news until you delve a little deeper into what it could actually mean for Texas A&M football.

Texas A&M is building what seems nearly sure to be the nation's best recruiting class for the 2027 cycle, and though they currently sit atop the pack in the rankings, there are still many heated battles the Aggies are involved in. While Texas A&M is nearly set at offensive line and defensive back, having multiple five-star commits at both position groups, they are less set at the linebacker spot.

None of Texas A&M's 15 commitments are listed as linebackers currently, though edge rusher Kaden McCarty is a bit on the smaller side for a lineman and could end up playing a stand-up role. The Aggies are in on a couple of big time players at the position, though— however, they just took a hit on that front, as a longtime target has now committed elsewhere.

Texas A&M linebacker target Noah Glover commits to Miami, but good news could be coming

The Aggies had long been a favorite of Virginia linebacker Noah Glover, with many believing he would end up in the Maroon and White before all is said and done. However, those notions were scuttled today, as Glover announced his commitment to the Miami Hurricanes over the Aggies.

Glover is a four-star player in the composite rankings, and he was clearly a high-value target for the Aggies. This is a miss by Texas A&M, but in a cycle where they've hit on so many, you have to expect that they're going to eventually suffer a loss like this sooner or later.

The interesting piece of this recruitment is what it means for the bigger picture. Texas A&M is not done in their recruiting battles with the Hurricanes, as they have been locked in a tussle with Mario Cristobal and company for several high-level prospects like Mark Matthews— and there are more yet to go.

One of the biggest names left in the state of Florida this cycle is linebacker Kaden Henderson out of the Tampa area. The five-star defender has been high on both the Aggies and the Hurricanes at different times in his recruitment, and it is these two schools that make up his top two at this juncture.

The nation's 23rd-ranked player is trending towards the Aggies at the moment if you look at his Recruiting Prediction Machine on On3, and he was predicted back in February by Steve Wiltfong to land with the Aggies. He hasn't committed yet, however— but the pickup of Glover by Miami could signal which way this is going, especially since Henderson was just on campus for the Canes.

If the Canes sense that the Aggies' lead here is becoming insurmountable, then it's well possible that they decided to regroup and move on to other targets preliminarily. The Canes won't give up on Henderson, of course— you don't do that with a target of this caliber— but the Aggie faithful could take this as a sign of a positive direction in this recruitment.

Henderson is set to take a visit to College Station this upcoming weekend, and the Aggies are hoping to shut the door here soon. Hopefully they can do just that.
