Latest update from five-star pass rusher Tank Jones has Texas A&M fans elated

Things are beginning to round into form in one of the Aggies' most important remaining recruitments on the books.

Texas A&M has one more big uncommitted piece that they're pursuing as an addition to their already-stellar 2026 recruiting class: Anthony "Tank" Jones, a big time pass rusher out of Mobile, Alabama. They've hosted Jones multiple times over the course of his recruitment, and while you should never take anything for granted when trying to pull a guy of this caliber out of the deep south, A&M feels good about their position by all accounts.

Most of the latest reporting has indicated that the sooner an announcement comes for Jones, the better for the Aggies, as the consensus seems to be that the Aggies hold an advantage currently. His addition would be a must if Texas A&M means to contend for the top overall class this cycle, which they have a legitimate shot at doing right now.

With all that in mind, a recent announcement by Tank has a lot of Aggie fans getting pretty excited about what's coming next. Jones indicated that he will be going public with a decision pretty soon.

This seems like a great thing for the Aggies, given some of the talk that's come out recently. However, you simply can't count out a team like the in-state Crimson Tide when it comes to something like this.

It's not just any team that can walk right into Alabama and steal a five-star prospect from the Tide. Texas A&M thought they led for Tony Mitchell for quite some time in the 2023 cycle until he eventually committed to Alabama.
