Some of the best moments of college football come from the shocking plays, the music and the atmosphere.
However, there's always been one man to make us smile every Saturday before we kick the games off. It's a perfect start to an 11 a.m. kickoff. The picks are made, the mascot head is worn, and then time for kickoff.
It was announced Thursday that week one of the 2025 college football season will be Lee Corso's last show on the beloved 'College GameDay.' Corso has been leading the charge since 1987, and it really marks an end of an era to the game of college football.
Lee Corso's best Texas A&M football moments
Corso is no stranger to being in College Station. Unfortunately, 'GameDay' hasn't been a good luck charm historically while covering a Texas A&M football game. He's also no stranger to Reveille.
He's always had positive critiques on Reveille, calling her 'beautiful' on many occassions. For Georgia fans, they've seen Corso critique UGA in the complete opposite direction, calling him 'ugly' in one of his famous outbursts.
Even though he didn't pick the Aggies, this was one of the funnier moments of Corso covering the Aggies when they faced the Clemson Tigers in a highly anticipated early season contest in 2018 (skip to 6:02).
Of course, he mentioned his famous line to Reveille, saying, "sweetheart, don't take it personal, this is strictly business." He put on the Tiger mascot to pick Clemson, which turned out to be highly controversial finish ending in a Clemson victory.
Aggie fans can't forget about 2000, against the top team the land, the Oklahoma Sooners (skip to 5:12). Corso surprised everyone, taking the Aggies in what he said would've been a 'major upset.'
They say traditions aren't planned, they just happened. Kirk Herbstreit had to pull some strings for Corso to wear the mascot in the first place. Luckily, the first headgear pick was in Columbus, Ohio, Herbstreit's old stomping grounds. Corso's personality grew to 'GameDay' being such an easy household name. We will miss him, and for younger folks, it feels like officially the end of their childhood.
