It's been a wild ride for Texas A&M basketball recently, as Buzz Williams, the head coach to take the Aggies out of the dust, decided to take the head coaching job for the Maryland Terrapins.

Williams was one of the most successful head coaches in Aggie history, by making a veteran Aggie team challenge themselves to new heights off of a strong offensive rebounding strategy and a tough-minded defensive approach. Now, it's up to new head coach Bucky McMillan to figure things out in the transfer portal as well as make his own coaching staff for the future of the Aggies.

If Aggie fans need some reassurance following McMillan's hiring, it's legendary college basketball coach Bill Self of the Kansas Jayhawks. His words from a year ago will make Aggie fans nod their heads after a hard-fought battle between Kansas and Samford in the 2024 NCAA Tournament.

Self on Buckyball: I would not want to play against it again

Self added this quote after a controversial ending to a Samford-Kansas tournament game in 2024. Samford looked to be in good position after competing from behind, but Kansas got the benefit of some whistles late in the game, and it didn't take long for Self to tell us what he thought about McMillan and his squad.

"That's my first experience with Buckyball and I would just as soon not play against it again for a while."
Bill Self

Self is one of the most accomplished coaches of all-time. To think that he once credited "Buckyball" as something he didn't want to play against is something Aggie fans everywhere should be excited about.

This just goes to show the innovative style that's coming to Aggieland with McMillan. Hopefully, all the SEC coaches will have this same mentality before too long.
