The chants of Marcel Reed's name were few and far between in Kyle Field in the first half, but you can bet that the hallowed halls of the Home of the 12th Man heard them resound after the massive comeback the Aggies just pulled off. Reed's Heisman candidacy looked like it was heavily in doubt after the first half struggles, but his huge second half may have powered him right to the front of the race.
Marcel met with the media following the game to comment on everything from the huge comeback to how he felt his candidacy for the top individual award in the nation was going. In answering a question about the latter, he was not only diplomatic and team-first, but he also gave a little wink to the hilarious meme that has been sweeping across the Texas A&M internet over the last week.
Marcel Reed gives perfect nod to viral Texas A&M 'chants' and 'chills' meme after historic comeback
Marcel demurred when asked about his Heisman campaign, saying that it "could have gone up... could have gone down." He reasserted that he and the whole team are "focused on winning games right now."
What he was unafraid to speak on, though, was the amazing "chants" and "chills" meme that Aggie fans have been participating in over the last week. If you're unfamiliar, it's basically Aggies getting together and willing into existence that the chants of Marcel's name will sweep across the nation as he moves from College Station, to New York (as a Heisman winner), to Miami (as a national champion)— and, as you'd expect, a notion like that is apt to give Aggie fans chills.
Marcel has clearly heard of the meme, and he acknowledged it in the best way possible:

This is the best possible way to nod to the amazing grassroots meme that the Aggie faithful have come up with— and, honestly, it's not that bad of a name!
This is a win that will live on in Aggie fans' memory for quite a long time, and Marcel may have just given it the best name he could have.
