Texas A&M fans have their hearts in their throats right now after Marcel Reed went down with an injury against the Utah State Aggies.
The Aggie quarterback was able to walk off the field without assistance after the training staff came over to help him, but there was a scary moment in the stadium that had every Aggie fan holding their breath. Miles O'Neill came in to replace Reed after the injury and had one nice pass but threw an interception later in the drive.
Reed was running the ball on the play where he sustained the injury. He dove forward to the ground and was hit after he was down by a Utah State player. No late hit was called given that it was so close to Reed going down, but hits like that have to be disincentivized.
They have Reed sitting up and he's testing the movement of his neck both ways. He pops up and is able to walk off normally.

Crowd chanting "Mar-cell Reed."
Aggie fans are sick of seeing their quarterbacks get hurt, straight up. The Aggies have not had the same QB start every one of their games since the 2020 season, as the injury bug seems to abide behind benter in College Station.
Marcel Reed injured against Utah State: What fans need to know about injured Aggie QB
Reed reportedly went into the tent upon going to the sideline for the Aggies. The SEC Network crew was on top of the situation, staying on the ball as the situation developed.
According to Alyssa Lang, the sideline reporter at the game, O'Neill was already getting warmed up to come into the game before Reed was hurt. That implies that A&M was getting ready to pull Reed, so this is really unfortunate timing.
What that also means is that the Aggie faithful won't really get an indication on what went on with Reed until after the game. After sustaining that hit, there's no way he goes back in the game, even if O'Neill turned the ball over.
This is the second injury scare that Aggie fans have had today. Captain Trey Zuhn went down in the second quarter, and though he is reportedly available, he hasn't played in the second half.
At the end of the third quarter, Reed was seen running to the locker room. He wasn't favoring anything, so it looks like it could just be a precaution. Alyssa Lang reported that Reed was "available, but unlikely to return."
This win is all but sewn up, and the Aggies need to get out of this game without sustaining any further mishaps to their first string. Hopefully, O'Neill can lead the Ags to an easy and clean win and Reed gets a clean bill of health going forward.
