UPDATE: Marcel Reed is back in the game. ESPN's Molly McGrath reported that Reed is fighting through the pain and pushing himself to help the Aggies. He originally didn't know if he'd be able to get back in the game when asked by teammates, but per McGrath, he indeed is battling through the pain.

Marcel Reed went down in the first quarter against the Texas Longhorns on the Aggies' first red zone possession on a rush attempt on second down. He escaped the pocket and was ready to make some hay in the open field, as he already had several times during the same possession, before his ankle turned as a result of the turf field in Texas's stadium.

Reed is known for his dynamic running ability, including his ability to make hard cuts in the open field. It was just such a cut that proved to cost him, as that was the motion he was making that caused the injury.

Reed was able to stand up and jog off of the field with no issue after the play. Miles O'Neill came in for the next play and handed off to Rueben Owens, who was tackled for a short loss.

Reed was captured not long after the possession, which ended with a blocked field goal (wouldn't be an Aggie road game against a ranked opponent without a blocked kick, I guess) moving pretty well on the sideline, which is a good sign.

Losing Reed would be absolutely devastating for the Aggies, as he is by far their best passer. Texas A&M fans saw that in spades in last week's game, despite some impressive throws by O'Neill and freshman Brady Hart. The dynamic element he provides is irreplaceable for this team, and especially this running game.

This article will be updated as soon as more information about the injury becomes available.

UPDATE 1: The Texas A&M football radio broadcast said Reed was back in the offensive huddle and receiving instruction from the coaches at the end of the first quarter. That's a great sign.

UPDATE 2: Marcel Reed is back out with the offense on the following offensive series.
