When Conner Weigman couldn't move the football against LSU, it became apparent that Marcel Reed had to step in and take charge. It's a great thing he did, considering his instant rushing attack led to a complete turnaround and a furious comeback rally in the second half.
Reed has been known for his ability to make plays in the open field with his legs, something Weigman wasn't really great at. Following a disappointing end to the season, questions have been rising about Reed's accuracy. Of course, the Aggies' collapse last season isn't all on Reed, as Scooby Williams was one to take note of his peers not playing efficently on defense.
Reed took to the podium to talk more about his role for the 2025 season, and he answered the million dollar question that fans have been wondering about. How will he balance running and throwing the football?
Reed's maturity in throwing will affect how much he runs
Marcel Reed: "I don't think my passing ability being better will affect how many times I run the ball. It's definitely instinct on how much I run. The defense has to make a decision at the end of the day once I get outside of the pocket."

"We'll see when we get into the season…
Reed adds that he thinks the coaching staff will be forced to choose his own philosophy. As a talented runner, Reed knows that he needs to balance his game, especially if he wants to throw 30-yard bombs to his new teammate, KC Concepcion.
"We'll see when we get into the season what it does, which decision they make and who they want to stop," Reed said. "They have to choose one."
This is a question that still needs to be answered, but at least we have more clarity on where the coaching staff wants to go with Reed. Le'Veon Moss and Rueben Owens should be the ones to handle the main running duties, forcing Reed to become a better passer. The signs are there for Reed's growth, he's just got to showcase his skills on the field.
