The SEC hasn't been high on Marcel Reed in any quarterback rankings this offseason. As Texas A&M fans aren't unfamiliar to disrespect, Reed has been criminally underrated as one of the returning quarterbacks in the conference.

Sure, his passing game was raw, but his rushing ability is the strongest part of his game. He's still got to develop as a passer, but any first time college quarterback is going to have its growing pains.

There are some numbers to show that he's not just underrated, but he actually provides more experience than most other returning quarterbacks.

Reed's athleticism and experience proves his underrated rankings make no sense

This shows that Reed has more to offer than some in the media might think. His natural running ability is one that any coach could get behind, but the fact that he had the most starts under any SEC freshman quarterback shows that he could have a long, successful career with Texas A&M.

He made mistakes, and it looked pretty obvious that the Reed project was going to have its growing pains, but to be fair, he inherited a tough situation by taking over for Conner Weigman. We never truly know the mental pressure that a freshman quarterback has on their back, but knowing that he had the fourth-best overall grade among returning SEC QB's, this shows us how much better he can be next season.

He's also in a very lucky situation to have two dependable offensive lineman in Ar'maj Reed-Adams and Trey Zuhn III. Combined with those two linemen and his scrambling abilities, this is setting up for Reed to have a tremendous season.

Obviously, we don't play the games on paper, but if the performance on the field matches up with the numbers that we see now, this is shaping up to be a fun year for Texas A&M football.
