Texas A&M just hosted one of three huge recruiting weekends they'll have this month, and it's already beginning to have a significant effect on their current class and prospective pledges. The Aggies brought in five-star talent from around the country, as well as guys they already have committed, and it made for a weekend that will be paying off in a big way.

One of the most visible effects was several of the Aggies' top guys making announcements that they will be shutting down their recruitment completely. With the recent trend of commits taking visits elsewhere— a trend of which the Aggies were actually a beneficiary this weekend— this is a positive move, even though it may seem strange to some.

It wasn't just the current commits, though— the Aggies have reportedly gained some major steam with five-star prospects across the nation. With some more huge visits upcoming, this is big news.

But first, let's take a look at the Aggie commits who shut things down. The biggest name there is WR commit Aaron Gregory out of Georgia, who had been talking to a few other programs about taking visits. Gregory now sees no need to do so, apparently, as he shut things down this weekend.

Gregory is a staple of this receiver class, with the Aggies also hoping to add guys like Ethan "Boobie" Feaster and perhaps even flip LSU five-star commit Tristen Keys, who was also in town this weekend. Another offensive stalwart who shut things down in favor of the Aggies is RB Jonathan Hatton.

Then, just today, TE commit Caleb Tafua out of Washington did the same.

It wasn't just locking in these important commits, either. The Aggies reportedly made some headway with uncommitted high-level talent as well, including five stars like DE Tank Jones from Alabama, S Bralan Womack out of Mississippi, and the aforementioned Tristen Keys.

The Aggies are looking to do something special with this recruiting class, and if they keep up this momentum, they may just pull off another number one ranking.
