Mike Elko confirmed in his press conference today that WR Terry Bussey will be out for the remainder of the season after suffering what Elko described as a lower body injury in the Kentucky game. This is what Aggie fans feared ever since he went down and had to be carted off, but to have it confirmed now is nothing short of gut-wrenching.
Bussey’s absence leaves a huge gap in the middle of the offensive roster that the Aggies will have to fill by committee. The former five-star from Timpson, Texas has served primarily as a receiver, but he has also been the kickoff return man for the Aggies since stepping foot on campus, and has even logged some snaps at running back as well.
The way in which this all took place was a complete and total kick in the stomach for Aggie fans. Bussey’s injury did not look good from the start, and it kicked off maybe the worst game of the Elko era. The Aggies will have to figure out a way forward now without one of their most potent offensive weapons.

The Aggies have a lot of depth at receiver, and that is going to truly get tested now. We saw them trot out Aaron Gregory, Kelshaun Johnson, and TK Norman against the Wildcats to go along with Mario Craver and Isaiah Horton— but there’s still a question mark hanging over the status of Ashton Bethel-Roman.
Texas A&M needs to get their pass game going in the worst way right now given how Marcel Reed is playing, so this won’t make things any easier at all on that front. Reed is taking a lot of flak from all sides right now, and the Aggies are about to go into one of the most intimidating environments in the country this Saturday night— so that only makes the task harder.
There’s no doubt Bussey will be back and better than ever in 2027, but this is just a true emotional blow for A&M fans to go along with the on-field effects. Terry is one of the most well-beloved members of this team, and to see a season where he seemed set to break out end so suddenly is just a huge blow.
