Mike Elko extension demonstrates again that Texas A&M is a top-5 job in America

The Aggies have just made this completely unambiguous: they are one of the best jobs in the country.

Texas A&M has extended their head coach Mike Elko in the face of a hard push from the Penn State Nittany Lions and other open positions around the country. The PSU faithful, as well as other detractors of the Aggies, were loud on this one, saying that the status of the job in State College would be sure to lure Elko away from Aggieland.

That obviously is not what happened, as the Aggies have locked down their head man for the long term, despite the ardent desires of these other schools. Mike Elko is building an absolute monster in College Station, finally awakening the sleeping giant that so many have talked about for so long, and it's making one thing clear: the Aggies have one of the best jobs in America— no one will be plucking the head man away from Aggieland.

Texas A&M once again demonstrates they're one of nation's top jobs with Elko extension

Elko signed on the dotted line directly after the Aggies accomplished the greatest comeback in school history, doing so as a conquering hero in something that A&M fans everywhere were cheering on:

The importance of this cannot be understated. A true college football blue blood threw everything they had at Mike Elko, and he elected to stay in Aggieland for the long haul rather than return to the area where he grew up and coach for a storied program.

He did that because Texas A&M is a better job. It is one of the best jobs in the entire nation. It is not a job that coaches get hired away from— rather, it is a job that hires coaches away from blue bloods.

The Aggies have hired away coaches from Alabama and Florida State; they have had runs made at their head coaches by programs like LSU and Penn State, yet the coaches have always stayed in Aggieland. This is a better job than those other places— even LSU, considered by some to be a top job in America, is not looking like such a desirable spot right now, chiefly because of what A&M did and continues to do to them.

Elko is here for good. He is building this program into a monster the likes of which we have not seen in College Station in a long time, with a chance to really make some history. He's not leaving for any other job.
