Mike Elko has already made Texas A&M recruiting heavyweight in 2027 cycle

Texas A&M football is moving back into the ranks of elite recruiting programs after a year or two off.

Texas A&M football under Mike Elko is quickly returning to their previous status as one of the most elite recruiting programs in the entire nation. The Aggies have put together a top-five class in the 2026 cycle, one that will only climb as they potentially pull off some big time flips over this fall.

In the class of 2027, too, the Aggies are making some major noise. Now that 2026 is all but full, the current junior class is beginning to come to the forefront— and for as elite as the Aggies' current group is, the upcoming class has a chance to be even better.

The Aggies already have a visit scheduled from the third-ranked player overall, EDGE Zyron Forstall out of IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida, for whose signature they will be battling Miami, LSU, Southern Cal, and Alabama. They're positioned pretty well for the fourth-ranked player overall as well in John Meredith III out of Trinity in Euless, Texas.

Mike Elko has turned Texas A&M football into recruiting heavyweight once more

They are once again looking to reach all across the nation to pull in talent, with the fifth-ranked player overall Joshua Dobson out of Fort Mill, SC, having visited College Station as well:

They're also in the mix for another top-10 prospect in Cedar Hill DT Jalen Brewster. That's not even to mention their prodigious chances with Liberty Christian LB Cooper Witten (yes, the son of Jason), who is another five-star prospect.

Now, will they bat 1.000 with all of these recruitments? Definitely not, but the fact that the Aggies are making such an impact early— including locking in their QB of the future in Jayce Johnson as well as a stud tackle in DeMarrion Johnson— also displays their rising chances with this upcoming class.

They still need to close out this 2026 cycle, of course, but the 2027 group really has a chance to be something special. I haven't even mentioned that the composite top player in the nation, Kennedy Brown, hails from nearby Humble, Texas! The Aggies could make some major moves in this upcoming cycle, and it's all thanks to the tireless work that Elko and this staff have put in on the trail.
