Joel Klatt of Fox Sports is clearly high on this Texas A&M football team— something that comes as a shock to Aggie fans across the nation.
"This is a legitimate title contender in the SEC."

Can Texas A&M handle success as the season ramps up? @joelklatt shares his advice. pic.twitter.com/9EsPYoJRfl
If you asked Aggie fans to name the people in the media world who disliked Texas A&M the most, Klatt is a guy who would be at or near the top of those lists with a high degree of regularity. He's had a reputation among A&M fans for poking fun at and routinely discrediting what A&M has done, but something about this team has turned him into a believer.
Ever since Mike Elko was hired, Klatt has been high on the Aggies, it seems. He clearly has bought into what the Aggie head man has brought to the program, and he believes that the Ags can be a real challenger for the SEC title game as soon as this year.
Mike Elko has converted perennial hater Joel Klatt into Aggie believer
Klatt's latest video shows that he believes fully in what Texas A&M can accomplish this season:
Oklahoma, Notre Dame, Michigan and Texas A&M – are these teams Pretenders or Contenders?@joelklatt shares his thoughts through week 4. pic.twitter.com/UqcdiaLymW

He rates the Aggies as a contender, saying he believes strongly in what they did up in South Bend. And even though Notre Dame has fallen to 1-2 this season, there is still every reason to believe that they can finish with 10 straight wins, as Klatt says in the video.
Slowly but surely, Mike Elko is repairing the national reputation of this Texas A&M football program. There was always some skepticism with Jimbo from the national media types, even though he kept the Aggies in the spotlight (for one reason or another).
With Elko, though, things are different. There's a lot of respect for the way he goes about things and his football mind out there, such that guys like Klatt, Kirk Herbstreit, and others give him a lot of credit as a coach.
Things keep on looking up for the Aggies. This program is ascending right now, and they could reach their goals as soon as this season— they need only capitalize on the opportunity they've been presented with.
