Mike Elko just took a very firm stance to the media about the UTSA opener

Let's just focus on Week 1 for now.

It's officially UTSA week for the Texas A&M Aggies.

The biggest news of the day for the Aggies was naming Miles O'Neill as QB2. O'Neill could be a threat if something were to happen to Marcel Reed. Beating out Jacob Zeno shows a remarkable turnaround for the young quarterback over the super senior.

Mike Elko took to the media to answer more questions about the UTSA game. In the most firm Elko way possible, he made sure to give UTSA its respect and not look ahead to the big game in South Bend just yet.

Elko responds to reporter by making sure to give UTSA the respect they deserve

One reporter asked about new faces on the defensive end and how they're preparing for UTSA and Notre Dame. Elko put the stop sign up to make sure to give UTSA their love before moving on to anything else.

"Certainly don't care about Notre Dame two weeks away, and certainly you think we have a really challenging opener with a team that has a returning quarterback and all those skill kids we talked about and all the talent they have coming back. So, let's make sure we say that the right way. "

It seemed like a genuine question to get a feel for how some new faces are going to adjust to Elko's defense, but Elko is right. UTSA's recent success has put the Roadrunners on the map as a respectable team.

Elko didn't mean to sound gruff here, but he just wanted to be sure that the media and the fans only look ahead one game at a time instead of leapfrogging to the Notre Dame game.

Elko eventually answered the question by talking about the challenge to Taurean York specifically, and how he's in a tough spot by stepping in to be the voice of the defense while also trying to help Jordan Lockhart and Noah Mikhail all at the same time.

This will be a tough game, and it's time for fans to start realizing that. This won't be like the Appalachian State meltdown from three years ago, but it won't be easy.
