It looked like a solid game plan in the first half to shut down Arch Manning, but as soon as Quintrevion Wisner started getting into rhythm and finding his blockers in the second half, the Texas A&M defense had no answer.
The Aggies' offense didn't show much to get excited either, as Marcel Reed threw two crucial picks in crunch time and basically didn't even give the Aggies a chance to compete for a comeback win. A lot of that win had to do with the atmosphere in Austin, and it didn't take long for the crowd to get fired up, and it might've made the difference in the game.
The first half showed the most promise, as the Aggies finished out the first half well, but that was pretty much forgotten about in the second half entirely.
Here's what Mike Elko had to say after the tough loss in Austin.
Mike Elko on the atmosphere in Austin:
"We didn't handle the atmosphere well enough. That's what makes this league so challenging."
Mike Elko on Marcel Reed's mistakes:
"I think he misread the coverage and put the ball where he shouldn't."
Mike Elko on the poor execution in the second half:
"We did a poor job of executing anything in the second half. It's on me. My fault."
Mike Elko on the bright parts of the second half:
"Even the way we responded in the game, we showed some fight to get it 20-17. They scored, and we drove again."
