Mike Elko swings and misses again as in-state prospect commits to UT over A&M

The hot recruiting streak for the Aggies apparently doesn't mean they land every single prospect they want.

Texas A&M has had a couple of stumbles amid what has, all things considered, been an extremely hot stretch of recruiting for a special 2026 class. Those came last week in the form of Aaron Thomas, an OT from Phoenix, Arizona, and Drew Evers, an OL from the Dallas area, committing to other schools despite the Aggies' pursuit.

The Ags have been fine on that front thus far, though, especially considering that they added Zaden Krempin— an interior offensive lineman from Prosper who was the apple of every in-state program's eye. That Mike Elko was able to snag a prospect that most had penciled in to Texas, one who is more ready to contribute than either Thomas or Evers, shows just how shrewd the Aggies' head man is.

However shrewd he is, though, he's not above losing a few recruiting battles. It looks like that's exactly what happened yesterday, as the Aggies lost an in-state prospect to UT.

North Forney ATH Legend Bey commits to UT over Texas A&M, others, as Elko stumbles again

Texas A&M already has a stellar wide receiver class (with perhaps some more exciting talent inbound), but they were looking to add some Ainias Smith-like juice with North Forney ATH Legend Bey. However, Bey made his pledge to Tennessee last night.

It was becoming more and more evident that things were trending this way as the day went on yesterday. Josh Heupel and the Volunteers certainly have themselves a good one, even if he may not be able to contribute right away— he has only ever played quarterback, after all.

The Aggies' current three-man group of Aaron Gregory, Madden Williams, and Mike Brown are a solid class at the moment, even without Bey, however. Consider the fact, too, that they may be about to add some more talent in the form of an Ethan "Boobie" Feaster, a Jase Mathews, or even a Tristen Keys flip, and the sting of this one could be lessened quite a bit.

Even so, this deserves mention. This isn't quite an undefeated run, even though it's still a scorching stretch on the trail. Elko will regroup quickly, I have no doubt, but this is one more off the board.
