Texas A&M took a gut punch on the recruiting front this weekend as five-star prospect Ahmad Hudson made a verbal pledge to the LSU Tigers, giving not only Lane Kiffin one of the most unique threats in the passing game in the entire country, but Will Wade a high-level prospect on the court.

Hudson was not only a five-star player on the gridiron, but will also be a massive addition for the LSU basketball program. While Texas A&M and Bucky McMillan are doing great right now relative to the Tigers, especially when it comes to portal pickups, this is one that they could end up regretting for quite some time.
Hudson had narrowed his list down and included the Aggies, but things began trending towards the in-state Tigers a few months back. With the heater that Texas A&M has been on over the last couple of weeks, though, and the prospect of playing time at the tight end position, there was some thought that the Aggies could come back to even with the Tigers, but that didn't happen.
Texas A&M loses five-star Ahmad Hudson to LSU Tigers in blow to both football and basketball
Hudson is a rare prospect in both sports, not only when it comes to his potential but his actualized skill. Now, standing at only 6'6" but being listed as a center could certainly end up being an issue when it comes to SEC basketball, but he could certainly play power forward for the Tigers— and Aggie fans are well familiar with a high-level player at the center position who was a bit on the shorter side.
The bigger threat for the Ags is on the football field, most likely. Hudson will be the heir apparent to LSU's Trey'Dez Green, who will be headed to the NFL as a high-round selection if he delivers on his potential this season. Both are massive bodies with soft hands who can add an extremely intimidating dimension to Lane Kiffin's pass attack.
While this is a blow for sure, the Aggies have a lot of ammo left on the recruiting front. Hudson, despite his national stature as a recruit, is not the highest-rated player that the Aggies and Tigers are battling for— Albert Simien, an interior offensive lineman from Lake Charles, LA, is currently leaning towards the Aggies.
It should also be said that Texas A&M has defeated the Tigers for players like five-star Zyron Forstall already this cycle. The Aggies will be just fine, even if this recruitment didn't go the way they wanted.
