Not only did Texas A&M lose in the first round of the College Football Playoff at home with the 12th Man on their side, but they were only able to score three points, and the game ended on a Marcel Reed interception. The game as a whole was ugly for both teams, but the Miami Hurricanes made the right plays at the right moment to find a way to win.
Reed's third and final interception of the day came at the worst possible time, as it was one on a play that needed to be made with just 24 seconds left in the game. After barely moving the ball all day, Texas A&M had finally put together a great drive when their backs were against the wall and down seven points.
After the first two goal-to-go plays didn't work, it was 3rd and goal with just under 30 seconds left in the game. It was clear four down territory, and if the Aggies didn't convert on third down, they had one more play to get the touchdown.
Reed snapped the ball, dropped back, and surveyed his options. He let the ball go towards the back of the end zone, and fans were hoping to see the ball be caught by some of their own, but instead, Bryce Fitzgerald picked off Reed to seal the win for the Hurricanes.
Multiple angles of the pass were shown, but the one below definitely shows that Reed never should have thrown the ball there.

It is clear that Reed saw the opening too late, thus passing the ball too late. He also put a little too much air under the pass, making it even easier for Fitzgerald to undercut the route and make the play for the interception.
That angle proves that Reed had no business throwing that ball to the back of the end zone and should have either chosen another read or just gotten rid of the ball and lived to play one more down to potentially get the win.
Instead, Reed made the one play that the Aggies couldn't come back from, as Miami was able to kneel the ball on one play and end the game.
