Nick Saban and Kirk Herbstreit break down Marcel Reed's electric performance vs. LSU
Nick Saban praises Marcel Reed's running and passing ability for Texas A&M football on College Gameday
Texas A&M football got a huge spark from their backup quarterback in the second half against LSU last week. Marcel Reed, who came in for Conner Weigman, led the Aggies to five scoring drives to eventually claim victory over the top-10 Tigers.
Thanks to Reed's play, the Aggies are still in first place in the conference, though they are placing that in jeopardy when they travel to the hornet's nest that is Williams Brice Stadium tonight to face off against the South Carolina Gamecocks.
Earlier today, on College Gameday, Nick Saban and Kirk Herbstreit broke down Reed's huge second half and what he brings to the table for the Aggie offense.
Saban specifically shouted out Reed's passes from the Florida game, talking about him converting each of the first three third downs with his arm. He also spoke about how well Reed threw the ball on the run, saying that "a lot of quarterbacks have a tough time doing that."
However, it wasn't all sunshine and roses. Saban warned of the test that is yet to come tonight in the form of South Carolina's defensive line, saying that they have an "advantage" because of their prep time.
According to Saban, the South Carolina DL has a chance to create confusion up front for Reed. We have indeed seen that teams that prep for Reed have had significant success, as both Bowling Green and Arkansas were able to contain the Aggie offense well even with no. 10 back there at signal caller.
Most signs point towards Reed getting the nod tonight, but I wouldn't be surprised to see both quarterbacks out there at some point. Hopefully, the Aggies are able to find offensive success with both signal callers tonight.
