It's not news to anyone that Texas A&M football boasts one of the premier home field advantages in the entire nation, as Kyle Field is well-known as one of the top venues in the entire sport. The Home of the 12th Man, when rocking at full capacity, cannot be matched by any stadium in the country.
That's a fact that's long been acknowledged by coaches and players who have the misfortune of visiting Aggieland as opponents, and legendary Alabama head coach Nick Saban is no exception. Saban's gone on record several times with high praise for Kyle Field and how difficult it is to play there as the visiting team.
His latest comments about Kyle Field ahead of College Gameday's visit to Aggieland may ruffle some feathers on first blush, however. He laid out a controversial accusation against the Aggies, but when you really get down to it, it's actually a huge compliment.
Nick Saban mentions complaining to SEC office about Kyle Field: "They pipe in noise"
Alabama's only loss to an unranked team after Saban's first year in Tuscaloosa took place in 2021 in College Station, and the crowd was a huge part of that. Saban is known to do a bit of grousing from time to time, and his comments on the Pat McAfee show demonstrate that he was skeptical about just how loud Kyle Field was getting:
NEW: Nick Saban believes Texas A&M pipes in noise at Kyle Field👀

“I did more complaining to the SEC office—it was more than complaining that I don’t really want to say on this show—about this is the noisiest place. Plus, they pipe in noise... You can’t hear yourself think when… pic.twitter.com/kGAgewRweS
Fans and especially regular attenders know full well that this is a nonsense accusation. The Aggies have the premier home field advantage in the nation thanks to selling out the Home of the 12th Man time and time again, the largest and most active student section in the country, and many other factors— the "piped-in noise" accusations are simply implausible.
On the flipside, though, this is something of a compliment to the Aggies. If it's so loud in Kyle Field that an opposing coach can hardly believe it's natural, it speaks to just how engaged this crowd actually is over the course of a game. There are clearly times when the wind is taken out of the Aggie fans' sails— times when getting the crowd going would be most needful— that show that noise is not being piped in in the slightest, but those are few and far between.
No, this is authentic, home-grown, old-fashioned yelling. Kyle Field's reputation is well-earned— just like Carson Beck and the Miami Hurricanes will find out this Saturday.
