Number of Aggies on all-Texas team shows respect but not without certain snubs

The all-Texas team from Dave Campbell gives some Aggies their due, but it also overlooks a few.

Texas A&M football has landed nine players on the Dave Campbell Texas Football preseason All-Texas team, a list that honors the best players in the Lone Star State ahead of the season. The Aggies are tied for the most representation of any school on the All-Texas first team, with seven selections, but they arguably should be standing alone in first place.

But first, here's who was honored with a first team selection from the Aggies: DT Albert Regis, CB Will Lee, LB Taurean York, OL Ar'maj Reed-Adams, OL Trey Zuhn, RB Le'Veon Moss, and K Randy Bond. The second-team selections for the Aggies include WR KC Concepcion and DE Cashius Howell. All of these players are more than deserving, of course.

But looking at that list, there are some players that have arguably been snubbed in a big way. Though some of these players got their deserved flowers, there were a few that were not mentioned— and perhaps unfairly downgraded.

Dave Campbell Preseason All-Texas team honors some Aggies but snubs others

KC Concepcion on the second team is not offensive to the sensibilities in a vacuum, but once you see who was placed over him, it's hard to make a good case why he was not included. Caleb Douglas of Texas Tech, Josh Cameron of Baylor, and DeAndre Moore of Texas were the first-line receivers— and none of them, for my money, have the pedigree of Concepcion.

KC did have a down year in 2024, but his all-purpose ability showcased as a freshman and sophomore should have at least earned him a nod at the utility position over Houston's Dean Conners. Even if he's not on this list right now, I'd bet he makes that top level by the time the year is out.

I wouldn't be surprised if Cashius Howell makes the jump up as well. He came on really strong at the end of last season, and I think we'll see that trend continue. Another guy to watch would be Chase Bisontis.

Congrats to the Aggies who earned this distinction! It's a well-deserved one all around.
