Don't look now, but Texas A&M baseball might be heating up.
The Aggies' bats have been an issue all season until a few games ago. Something changed up in Knoxville, and the Ags were able to rattle off a pair of huge games at the plate against the then-top-ranked Volunteers to win the series with a Saturday night run-rule victory.
They kept that mojo going in the midweek game against Sam Houston, but they would need it even more against the South Carolina Gamecocks, visiting this weekend. The Ags started off hot, putting up seven runs through five innings, but were unable to even get a baserunner after that point as a mini-slump struck the lineup.
Thanks to some stellar pitching by Weston Moss, who found himself in a jam in the top of the 9th but worked his way out of it, the Aggies barely made it to extras, tied at seven. Moss mowed down the Gamecock batters in the top of the 10th as Aggie fans watched, hoping for some Olsen Magic when A&M came back up to the plate.
And Olsen Magic is what they got.
Caden Sorrell's solo home run blast lifts Texas A&M baseball to extra innings win
Caden Sorrell was the first man up for the Aggies, and he had some bad intentions from the get-go. It took him only one pitch to end the game.

This is a glimpse for the Aggie faithful of just how different things might have been if Sorrell had been available all year. He missed most of the Aggies' first stretch, and has been limited since, but is just now regaining his form.
This is a must-win series for the Aggies, and winning in this fashion has to be a huge motivator. Sorrell maintains his status as a Gamecock heartbreaker (who remembers this play from last season?), and the Aggies go up 1-0 in the series, looking to clinch with tonight's contest.
