One UNC recruit Texas A&M football needs to jump on after Mack Brown's firing

One day after Mack Brown declared he would be back in Chapel Hill next year, he's out. Here's how Texas A&M football can take advantage.

After Mack Brown is canned at UNC, Texas A&M football should set their sights on this one recruit

News came down today that Mack Brown, former coach of Texas A&M football's rival, has been let go at North Carolina. This comes on the heels of Brown saying just yesterday that he intended to return for next season.

Brown is a college football staple, but just like Jimbo Fisher, he couldn't quite recapture his national title-winning magic at his second stop; accordingly, they've decided to move on. The parallels are interesting for sure, but that's a discussion for another day.

In this day and age of college football, teams have to be ready to capitalize on things like this, whether through the high school ranks or the portal. There's some opportunity here for the Aggies.

Bryce Baker is a top-100 quarterback out of Kernersville, NC, who is currently committed to the Tar Heels. He is the only player ranked within even the top 300 nationally who is pledged to UNC.

The Aggies obviously lost their quarterback commit recently when Husan Longstreet flipped to Southern Cal, so they are in the market for one. With Mike Elko's connections in North Carolina, it's not too far-fetched to think that he may be able to pull off a flip of his own here.

Baker is a dual-threat passer, which lends itself well to Collin Klein's offensive style, as we've seen. He's not an immediate, day-one starter kind of guy, but hardly anyone is at the QB position who isn't ranked as a five-star.

I can't necessarily say that this is likely, given that it doesn't appear that the Ags have previously been a player for Baker. But now the opportunity presents itself, maybe Elko and company can make a move in this recruitment.
