Texas A&M baseball's insanely tough schedule yields eye-popping statistic
Texas A&M baseball fans already know just how difficult the SEC can be, no matter the year. For as dominant and deep as the conference is in football, the grind in baseball is somehow even tougher.
Playing in the Southeastern Conference on the diamond is about as close to playing in the majors as it gets— not only with the collection of talent that is present year in and year out, but the environments that are present around the entire conference present unique challenges for visiting teams.
Texas A&M baseball's record at Olsen Field can stand up to any challengers, too. Most of their poor play came on the road last year, while they stood firm when in the friendly confines of Blue Bell Park.
That's why this latest statistic about the Aggies' schedule has fans more than a bit irate. Things are setting up for the Aggies to have maybe their most talented team of all time, but simultaneously, they may be facing the toughest slate of all time.
Texas A&M baseball will play 20 games this season against the @d1baseball Preseason Top 25. That’s 36% of their entire schedule.

Of those, only 3 will take place in College Station - versus LSU in early May.
That's 17 games against top-25 teams away from home. Talk about a gauntlet.
A&M fans are no strangers to unfavorable SEC schedules, but this is a new level. With just how difficult this slate is set to be, it brought out some of the conspiracy-minded fans, who laid the blame at the feet of everyone's favorite SEC commissioner.
yep - i've been preaching this ever since the schedules came out. Now do tu...sankey is a snake.

Sankey knew what he was doing.

This is a challenge and a half, no doubt about it. But if there's any team in the entire country that can overcome a slate like this, it's the Aggies.
This is a senior-laden and experienced team— and not to mention one of the most skilled in the entire nation. This Aggie squad has seen it all, and they've brought home more than a few tough road wins. They'll have to bring home a few more if this year is to be a success.
