Rendering verdicts on each of Texas A&M football's portal losses from last cycle: Which former Aggies upgraded?

Texas A&M football received a lot of attention for portal losses after Jimbo Fisher's firing. Two, in particular, grabbed a lot of headlines.

However, not all the departures were really negatives for the Aggies. There were several players who left who would not have seen the field under Mike Elko.

Even so, not all of these players really made the best decision; some were simply too hasty in trying to get on the field. In this article, I'll go through each departure and declare whether they starred at their new stop, or their chances of improving have been sunk. Let's jump in.

Rendering a verdict on Texas A&M football 2023 portal entries: Sam McCall

McCall appeared in several games for the Aggies last year, mostly as a backup after the Ags took some hits to their depth. After starting his career at Florida State, he headed to the Aggies, but didn't find a lot of success at either spot.

His next stop? Georgia State. The Panthers finished 3-9 overall (including, confusingly, a win over a pretty good Vanderbilt team) but McCall wasn't a huge contributor. He registered one solo tackle against App State on October 26, but didn't record any other statistics.
