3 Reasons that Shemar Turner Returning to Texas A&M Football is the Right Decision

One of the bigger pieces of news that broke this past week for Texas A&M football was the official announcement that Shemar Turner would return to College Station to play a fourth year for the Aggies. Turner was one of the most destructive forces along the defensive line for the Aggies this past year, and therefore one of the premier DL talents in the entire nation.

Turner easily could have parlayed his outstanding 2023 into a high draft selection, had he chosen to declare for the NFL. He certainly has the measurables and the production to justify a high draft choice, and he would have demonstrated his athleticism in no uncertain terms at a pro day or the NFL combine. However, Turner felt that there was meat left on the bone for him, and decided to remain an Aggie for one more year.

This was great news for Aggie fans. With the returning talent at that position, as well as some of the pass rushing names coming in via the portal, Texas A&M football will without a doubt boast one of the best defensive lines in the nation in 2024.

Not only that, I think this was the right decision for Shemar. He could have been a high draft choice, yes, but in my estimation, this was the correct move for Turner. Let's talk about why.
