Three reasons Texas A&M football hype will go into overdrive: Renewed offensive attack
I predicted before that the Aggie coaching staff won’t do too much in the way of tipping their collective hand as regards play design during this game. When asked about it earlier this week, though, Elko seemed unconcerned, remarking that his defensive scheme and Klein’s offensive scheme have been on tape from previous years.
Given some of the creativity we’ve already seen from Klein at his previous stop, I think it’s safe to say we will see some of that same imagination in the play design in this scrimmage. Klein is a coach for the White team, who boasts Weigman at QB but fewer of the projected starting receivers than the Maroon squad.
Even so, I think we’ll have some excitement there. Rueben Owens will be an interesting piece to watch, as his receiving skills flashed some last year. Jaden Platt made some big plays down the stretch last year.
Most of all, I’m just anxious to see some of the schematic changes that Klein has made as regards formations and presnap motion. Again, I don’t think they’ll be giving all that much away in this spring game, but I think things will look markedly different than they did in previous years.
